I really don't like cleaning nebulizer parts. It's just a pain. And according to my clinic, I go overboard on cleaning. They say to wash them everyday, which is more than the pediatrician's nurse told me when we first got the nebulizer. I'm thankful for my CF Mama friends who told me about the guideline page on the
CF Services Pharmacy website. This page is printed and posted in my kitchen.
So here's what it looks like every day. Or at least every other day since I have enough parts to do two treatments for two days without a full wash. A habit I try not to do, but as Hubby can attest, I'm not particularly successful.
Rinsed the spacer, rinsed the mask, rinsed the nebulizer cup
Rinsed the inside of the neb cup now they're all ready to wash. Add plain dish soap like Ajax or Joy
Wash all the parts Parts that can't be boiled parts are boiled for 5 minutes
- in a dedicated bin are soaked in rubbing alcohol water is then used to rinse
Parts that can't be boiled are soaked, rinsed, and dry Parts that can be boiled are now drying
So now it's time to go start this process for today.
We'll be watching "Breathless Bride: Dying to Live" airing on TLC at 10:00pm on Wednesday, February 29, 2012. A story about Kirstie Mills and her fiancé, Stuart while she's awaiting a double lung transplant.
